Ode to New Yorker

We entered the darkness,

The comforting sunlight vanished.

The only glow left was from the flickering, artificial lights,

Decorating the interior.

Oncoming headlights beamed,

As if two evil eyes were attacking me.

I looked to the dark walls,

It seemed as they were breaking.

What if it were to collapse? The cracks seem big enough.

The blue waves would crush

Our lifeless bodies,

And push them out,

Farther into the deep sea.

It didn’t.

I clenched my eyelids,

Hoping to be out soon.

A few seconds went by,

I opened them to nothing...

But light.
