Two left, I heard my name
Two (seconds) left, I heard my name
6:00. The time came. I have waited all day for it to come along. I swiftly crept to my front door and got ahold of the keys upon my key hook. Clutching them in my hand, I walked out my apartment door and into the dark, grey parking garage. I hate parking garages; nothing good happens in parking garages. Telling myself this over and over again, I ran to my parked car, sitting exactly where I left it: the closest spot to the entrance. I unlocked the door to my white convertible, and stepped inside its lush interior. I put the cold key into the ignition, and turned it. Backing out of my spot, I floored out of the gloomy garage. As I made my way onto the parkway, the only thing I could think of was my audition. Knowing my lines by heart, I rehearsed them again and again in my head. I had about 20 minutes until I would arrive to the audition building, but the nerves kept building, making my body tremble. I must have not been paying complete attention to driving, as my attention was on my future audition because the next thing I knew, I was being side swept across the four-way intersection. My car flipped completely over twice, rolling into the shallow ditch next to the parkway. Laying in shards of broken glass, and a pool of dark blood, I perched my head up slightly, but just enough to see the army of ambulances coming around the corner. The sirens of all four of them must have been piercing the ears of everyone around, but to me, they were drowned by the ringing that was rattling in between my ears. Five seconds left, blood trickled down my temple, running into my mouth, filling it with a metal sensation. Four seconds left, the EMT rushed towards me, pushing an oxygen mask onto my face. Three seconds left, as one EMT looked for any sign of life, another one searched my purse for identification. Two seconds left, I heard my name. One second left, nothing, everything went black.
