New Beginnings
A house, former quiet and clean,
Was next filled with a dog anything but mean
Laughter and little barks filled the air,
As well as thin, yellow dog hair
Chewable toys fleeing down the halls,
Went in synchronize with rolling balls
Although a new puppy came with a responsibility,
I promised to care for him to the best of my ability
Beach Days
Going to a beach that was 8 hours away,
Made up for the fact that the sky was never gray
Being in a house with the whole clan,
Sometimes got loud but that, I could stand
Staying for a week was always great fun,
And I loved soaking up every ounce of the sun
After digging my toes into the warm sand,
My younger cousins asked me to lend them a hand
They were building a sand castle as tall as me,
As once as we finished, I ran to the sea
Oh how I love the beach
Sunday Dinners
Today is Sunday, which means family dinner,
With nothing served that would make us thinner
My Mom-mom and Pop-pop cooked dinner for us,
The food was always delicious, no room for any fuss
Gathering around the table, we eat our food,
Which always seems to put me in a good mood
After dinner, we sit there and chat,
But leave no crumb available for even a rat
Changing Times
Growing up we always had our fun,
But now times have changed, and our old days were all done
Playing dress-up and restaurant inside,
Followed by going outside and playing on the slide
As we grow older, we still remember these days,
Laughing and playing in the sweet, summer rays
As she is now in college, and I am stuck here,
We know we will make new memories in the upcoming year
The Music City
A few years ago, as my close cousins moved out west,
They invited us down to be their guest
We then took on the 13 hour trek,
And I slept in the back, waking to a cramp in my neck
We then took a tour of the new place they call home,
And went to the close city to take a long roam
Country bands playing in every small pub,
We stepped inside one to have some good grub
Touring the city came with great fun,
And it’s a place I want to go back to, dancing in the sun
Nashville, you have my heart,
And I am sad that we had to part
Sport Games
Every summer that I can remember,
Was filled with weekend tournaments and buying from their vendors
Whether it was soccer or lacrosse, it was also with a fun team,
But soon it will only be re-lived in memories and dreams
Summer ‘18 will be the last just like these,
It’s so sad they went by as quick as a breeze
Family Game Nights
I come from a family who gathers for game nights,
One team comes out on top, as they are considered right
Consisting of members large to small,
Each fought each other in different brawls
We are competitive, and that we like,
We gained this character as a small tyke
Old Times
Being with cousins, filling the rooms,
Joking around, as laughter blooms
I like coming from a family that is very close,
These are the types of people I do like the most
We like to be together whenever we can,
I do like to do this, I am a big fan
As we grow older, times do change,
These memories will then become distant and strange
Summer Camp As a Counselor
I grew up at a camp, playing and having lots of fun,
Now I work there under the hot, beating sun
With my friends, I can still joke and laugh,
But I have responsibility, as I am among the staff
Most of the young kids still cry and whine,
But I can handle it, to me it is fine
Valley Rides
Going around curves and turns with my friends,
Blasting music and rolling down the windows at the bends
Whether it’s at night or it’s at day,
It’s a memory I’ll cherish, and want to stay
It brings back a sense of sweet summertime,
Something that will come back soon, sometime
Having our license by then, all of us,
There will be no confusion of who will drive, no fuss
These rides are something I cannot wait for,
It’s something I love to deeply adore
